About 99 Henry Smith Rd

The Henry Smith House is a marvelously classic and simple late Victorian house built in 1909 which in 2000 was restored and adapted into a comfortable home with comfortable bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a wonderful dining room and kitchen at its core.

The grounds are spectacular with formal gardens, lush plantings, a stunning pool area, and endless azaleas, camellias, sweet olive, and roses. There is always something in bloom.

Just across the drive from the main house is what is known as the log house which began life in 1857 and has been rebuilt so that today it is a comfortable contemporary interior with a traditional exterior. After Katrina it was moved from one side of the house to the other because of tree damage done by the storm. The front wall of the house is original but the others are re-sided with appropriate materials.

The current owners take in guests and have hosted many weddings and entertained lots of friends over the years. In 2000 the current owners expanded their entertaining into a large outside patio with a handsome pavilion and pergola. It has its own catering kitchen, two baths and a bar area as well with 5000 square feet of covered area.

And on the other side of the patio in back of the main house is a developing feature of a chapel, a small typical period building with its own steeple.

It’s amazing how three acres can provide so many venues.
